About us
ELPROS was established in 2001 by its founder, Bojan Mahkovec, as a company specialized in the development and production of industrial telemetry systems.
Over the past two decades, the company has become highly specialized in electric power systems, with a strong focus on WAMS/WAMPAC technologies and real-time synchrophasor applications.
Today, ELPROS is recognized as a global technology leader in large-scale WAMS/WAMPAC solutions for mission-critical power-system monitoring, protection, and control applications.
ELPROS began developing WAMS solutions in 2005 with the deployment of the first large-scale commercial WAMS systems. The system architecture and operational concepts introduced by ELPROS were later adopted across numerous WAMS solutions worldwide.
In 2006, ELPROS implemented the first real-time inter-TSO WAMS-to-WAMS data exchange systems based on the IEEE 1344 standard, later migrated to IEEE C37.118. The solution was deployed between several ENTSO-E transmission system operators.
ELPROS pioneered the concept of WAMPAC systems operating as protection-class systems based on time-synchronized measurements, following principles traditionally used in protective relaying systems. Today, similar concepts are widely implemented in modern WAMS/WAMPAC and RAS/SIPS solutions worldwide.
The company also introduced deterministic real-time oscillation-detection technologies for dynamic power-system monitoring and protection applications.
ELPROS deployed WAProtector as the first large-scale WAMS platform featuring real-time event-detection processing operating at maximum synchrophasor time resolution.
With the WAProtector™ product family, ELPROS is recognized among the leading providers of large-scale WAMS/WAMPAC systems worldwide.
